SURGERY, SCAR TISSUE, WHIPLASH
& CARPAL TUNNEL

Scar Tissues

Surgeries are modern miracles.  Decaying tissues and organs are taken out, broken bones are mended.  What happens afterwards should be our big concern.  Scar tissues are formed which are growing inwards causing the effect of a blunt knife to internal tissues.  On the outside it feels like a very tight area with a feeling of numbness.

To prevent injuries to the internal environment due to these scar tissues, one must apply friction massage, which will allow continuous flow of blood and energy. As soon as it is possible, one should start stretching exercises for that area … and why not for the entire body, while we are at it!

Hatha Yoga allows the muscles to move in many different directions, maintaining continuous flow of life force, blood, and lymphatic fluids so that the affected tissue will stay flexible, healthy, strong and supple.

Whiplash

Whiplash, due to accidents, should not be neglected.  It is very important to seek out chiropractic assistance and massage treatments.  These seemingly harmless whiplash will cause nagging discomforts, eventually resulting in serious health problems.  These could show up anywhere from three to six years - constant aches, pains and muscle spasms are miserable to live with.

As soon as the first stage of mending and healing takes place, seek out a good Hatha Yoga class to keep alignments, strength and flexibility.

Carpal Tunnel

Carpal Tunnel used to be identified with jobs that required repetitive movements.  In the old days it could be attributed to working in a chicken factory or mining. Today, our computer generation is susceptible to carpal tunnel and misalignment of the body.  Misalignment is due to the fact that people are unconscious of the physical postures while they are staring at computer screens.

Health is a priority in our daily lives.  Our minds stay clear and productivity stays high.  Do not wait for twinges to occur and continue in your hands and arms, or pain in your back and neck muscles and numbness.   These are the symptoms of early stages of carpal tunnel  … and more.

What you can do to help yourself!
  • Take short breaks.
  • Stand up.  Move the hips and legs around and stretch them.
  • Exercise your fingers by closing and opening your fists.
  • Move your shoulders; interlace your fingers and press, squeeze and release.
  • Stretch your arms outwards, rotate them; right arm moves counterclockwise, left moves clockwise; pull them back behind you.
  • Include some neck exercises too:  side to side, back to front.
  • Let your torso move upward and stretch backwards while supporting your lumbar with your hands.
  • Take deep yoga breaths.

WHO is the most important being in your life? YOU!

Years ago, the reason for going to work was to provide ourselves and/or family with our needs and wants.  Times have changed; food has become secondary.  We gobble the food down so we can get back to work.  We have no time to enjoy what we have earned.

According to Yoga, food is nutrition.  Food makes us who we are.  Food builds the blood, tissue, bone and muscle [the physical structure].  Besides the quality of the food that we eat, the state of mind when we eat is extremely important.  You should be very calm, focused and loving when you eat.  Yoga tells you to treat food as God, with respect and reverence.  You must pay as much attention to food as you would to a serious project.

Digestion starts when you look at the food and smell the food; salivation begins.  Be in the moment.  Enjoy each and every morsel.  Enjoy the food's texture, chewing the food, and swallowing of the food.  Remember the sensation when it reaches the stomach.  No matter how nutritious the food, do not eat in a hurry. Do not eat when you are angry or frustrated. It turns into poison.
