Testimonials
"Balance, harmony, healing, discovery, truth, safety, strength, fulfillment, free flow of energy, well being, emotional cure, purity, joy, calm, relaxation - Does this sound like a profile of a person with two jobs in public education, including high school freshman classes? For me – it does.
Yoga practice with Ranjana turns abstract wellness ideas into living experiences with a range of motion and emotion. Physical and spiritual sensation of the ultimate good in each cell of the body defies words. But the facts remain: crams are gone, chronic pain in the neck and the back are things of the past, wrists are stronger than ever. Breathing techniques Ranjana teaches have proven invaluable in stress and time management. I am also grateful for numerous nutrition tips, the wonders of the neti pot, revitalization of hair growth after shirodhara (discovery of new gravitational dimensions during the treatment deserves a special passage, as it was one of a kind experience that redefined my relationship with space in a profound way).
Ranjana has a unique way of acknowledging each student individually, yet creating a unity of experience for all– her very special school of yoga. Thank you, Teacher." ~Irina Marchenko, Ph.D.
In addition to learning the discipline of relaxation through the breath, I have also seen other benefits. They include:
-
weight stabilization
-
increased mobility
-
sleeping better
-
most important of all - decreasing anxiety
Whenever I feel anxious, I start the yoga breathing, focus on my unviersal energy and goodness and relax into the peaceful energy around me." ~Lynda
I have always been an athletic person, but as I have gotten older (36), I have also gotten lazier. I don't run five miles a day, I don't rollerblade very often, in fact, I don't even walk on a regular basis. I was looking for something new, and I decided to try yoga.
After the first two classes I felt more relaxed. I was really looking forward to my third class, because by this time, I could tell the difference. My legs and hips felt much better. They were more open, not as tight. I noticed that my thighs and waist were more toned and I think my metabolism was even increased. This was GREAT!
I decided to go to as many classes as I could fit into my schedule, and have now been to a total of fifteen classes in a few short weeks. I feel so much better. My neck feels better than it has in five years. (I go to a chiropractor on a regular basis.) I am so much more relaxed. It is hard to explain the relaxation effect but I feel like I do when I am on vacation -- I walk slower, I am calmer, traffic doesn't bother me, etc. It is really incredible.
My muscles feel stronger, I am more flexible, my posture is better, my back and shoulders are not knotted and tight all the time. I feel like I am enjoying the present more because I am more relaxed and physically comfortable. The difference is really amazing, and I am thrilled at the result that I see and feel.
I highly recommend yoga -- its a terrific combination of exercise and relaxation/stress reduction. It will also help you get in touch with yourself and enjoy life even more." ~Margaret Ragland
I personally notice significant benefits. My energy is much greater. I am calmer and more centered. I am clearly more flexible. Days when I might be tempted to stay home because I am feeling a bit under the weather I have noticed that if I attend anyway, when I leave the class I feel much better and stronger with greater energy. I also value the many wonderful people I meet and learn from. Dr. Emoto who wrote "Messages from Water" came one evening to speak as did HRM who spoke on sun gazing. We found a fabulous vegan caterer through Ranjana and have many special friendships from other regular class members and yoga teachers.
Larry, my husband, began to attend with me almost five years ago. Larry is a retired dentist who had developed a hump at the top of his spine from forty years of being bent over a dental chair. He also has had bow legs since childhood. Now his spine is beautifully straight and his legs are much straighter. Even his spine is amazingly more flexible. He has a fusion between L4 and L5 vertebra which has significantly limited his flexibility. Yet now it is amazing how much range of motion he has gained.
Whereas at the beginning I struggled to find time for practicing yoga in my life, now I can't imagine not devoting ninety minutes each day. Everything goes better thanks to yoga. I am more patient, more intuitive, more organized and have far better energy. At age 69, I am enjoying the energy and flexibility I had in my late 30's.
